My design is looking to support the civic economy of the North of Sheffield via the use of festivals and amplify the narrative of civic entrepreneurship and mutuality.
In order to achieve this, I tap into the knowledge and networks of two existing local festivals and imagine expanded possibilities for economic and spatial interventions in the area. The making of The Civic Festival offers opportunities for exchange between professionals and volunteers. Here architecture is explored as an open and generative process and the architect is a locally embedded agent whose role spans between organising, designing and making.
