The climate crisis in 2050 leaves much of the UK vulnerable to heavy flooding, displacing hundreds of thousands of people. In combination with a housing crisis, climate refugees organise to seek an Architectural solution in Sheffield.
'A Community Between' proposes a model of sustainable cooperative housing on a derelict brown-field site to fill the social, environmental and psychological demands of a population in need. Through modern methods of construction, biophilic design and building from neighbouring problematic precedents of social housing, this thesis looks to provide a meaningful solution of anthropocentric, community-positive infrastructure in answer to a surfacing future emergency.
